Tanya photo
This is one of my masks.
We took the photo in a stream nearby.
What do you think it is?
It's a FROG!
There will be another mask photo when I write to you next Tuesday.
See ya!
Uncle Tom
...
Hi.
I hope you liked my NEW Little Red Hen story!
I changed it from the old way--because when we help someone else--like the dog, the cow and the cat helped the Little Red Hen with her farm--they ALL got to enjoy each other's company AND they got to share the good, freshly baked loaf of bread too!
Tomorrow I am going to show you some fun masks I am making. They're easy and fun to make!
See you then!
Uncle Tom
YES THEY DID!
...
And, O my dears, when that beautiful fresh loaf of bread came out of that oven all golden brown and ready to eat--didn't those friendly, helpful neighbors enjoy their well-earned feast together?!!
...
ALL of the animals watched as the Little Red Hen placed the loaf of bread into the oven to bake.
They had ALL helped.
They were ALL curious.
And they were ALL hungry for some freshly baked bread!
...
The next chore was to mix the flour and knead it into dough for bread.
The Little Red Hen again went to ask her neighbors for help.
First she went to Mr. Dog.
"Mr. Dog," she said, " Would you help me mix and knead the flour into bread dough now?"
"I sure will!" happily barked Mr. Dog. "All of you neighbors have been having so much fun getting this bread ready that I would be very disappointed if I didn't have a chance to help out too."
Madam Cow, Young Pig and Miss Cat also wanted to help, so the work went very, very quickly.
...
So the Little Red Hen went to see Miss Cat."Miss Cat--I would like to mill the wheat into flour--would you please help me?"
"With grrreat pleasure," purred Miss Cat. "I have finished all my other business and it is always good to help one's neighbors when one can!"
Young Pig also wanted to help and, of course, Madam Cow was very willing to pitch in and since so many neighbors were helping out, the work went very quickly!
...
When the wheat had been harvested, the Little Red Hen wanted to mill the grains into flour and again she needed help.
She first went to ask Mr. Dog.
"Mr Dog. I need help to mill the wheat into flour--would you help me please?"
"I really WANT to." said Mr. Dog, "But some silly sheep have gotten out of their pen and I must catch them and bring them back home right now!"
...
So The Little Red Hen went to see Young Pig."Young Pig, The Wheat is ripe and ready to be harvested. Will you please help me?"
"Sure!" snorted Young Pig. "I passed my exams and I would be happy to help!"
Madam cow was also happy to help again "Because it keeps my figure trim!" she mooed.
...
Next she went to Miss Cat.
"Miss Cat, the wheat is ripe and ready to harvest--would you help me Please?"
"Not now." Meowed Miss Cat, "I need to slink and stretch."
...
First she went to Mr. Dog.
"Mr. Dog, the wheat is ripe and ready to harvest.
Would you help us please?"
"Not now!" barked Mr. Dog.
"I hear something behind the barn and I have to run investigate!"
...
The Little Red Hen and Madam Cow took excellent care of the wheat plants through the long sunny days of summer and the plants grew sturdy and strong.
Beautiful ears of wheat appeared and ripened and before long it was time to harvest the grains of wheat.
For this work the Little Red hen thought she would ask her neighbors for their help again...
...
So she went to Madam Cow.
"The young wheat plants need to be weeded now--would you please help me?"
"I would be very happy to help you." said Madam Cow.
"That kind of healthy exercise is just what I need to keep my figure in trim!"
And she DID help.
...
So she went to Young Pig.
"The young plants need to be weeded now--will you please help me?"
"Not I," oinked Young Pig, "I have to study for an exam."
...
So she went to Miss Cat.
"The young wheat plants need to be weeded now--would you please help me?"
"Not just meow," replied Miss Cat, "I have some business with a mouse to take care of."
...
First she went to Mr. Dog.
"The young wheat plants need to be weeded now. Will you please help me?"
"Not I!" Barked Mr. Dog.
"My doctor said I should stay out of the sun."
...
The Little Red Hen neatly planted the wheat.
The gentle rain came and the warm sun shone.
The days and nights passed and soon the wheat sprouted and started to grow.
It was time to weed her garden.
She went to her neighbors again to ask for their help.
...
"Then I will do it myself!" said the Little Red Hen.
And she did!
...
Then she went to see Madam Cow.
"I am planting some wheat to make us some bread. Will you please help me?"
"Noooooooo" Mooed Madam Cow.
"I must ruuuminate, that is, I must chew my cud right now!"
...
So the Little Red Hen went to see Young Pig.
"Young Pig," she said, "I am planting some wheat to make us some bread. Would you please help me?"
"Me not!" Snorted Young Pig, "I am VERY busy right now scratching my back on this fence post!"
